If I say the windows to my childhood home were my best friends, would you say I am crazy?
'A Walk with Windows' is an abstract documentary that explores the emotional connection one has to a long-forgotten childhood home. No matter where one goes, it can be defined as a sentiment of remembering of that specific room in the house that helped them shape into who they are today.
While I was looking through different meanings of a window, the one that made me feel something is that "A window is a means of entrance or access." (2022)
It is true indeed! I remember when I was young, I had a very easy access to my neighbour's house through their windows, and even if I didn't want to, I could see everything inside their home. It is funny how I understand this now, that even if the windows were originally made to let the light and the air in, it is merely an invitation for others to know of our presence and for us to feel theirs'!
In the Hindi Language, a window is called a "Khidki", a sweet sound to the ears in fact. I wanted to use this term in this film to bring a soft feeling of memory and attachment to my childhood, of how my mum taught me every little thing about life while talking to me in our native language.
This film is a slow watch. It is meant to make you feel like you are staring through these windows sitting in that particular setting and having a moment with yourself. Hope you enjoy gazing through!
